Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Site Engineer (Civil Engineering / Energy) to support a growing civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the UK. The role is national with travel and lodge requirements, offering a permanent position and a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 plus car/allowance.

You will work alongside Site Managers, Project Managers and engineering teams to deliver projects safely, accurately and to specification.

Site Engineer - Civil Engineering / Energy

National - UK-wide travel required + lodge

We are currently recruiting for a Site Engineer to join a growing civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a permanent opportunity suited to an Engineer who enjoys being site ased and is comfortable travelling and working away from home. You'll be joining an established delivery team working across a pipeline of major civil engineering and energy infrastructure schemes.

Previous experience within the power or energy sector would be beneficial, but it is not essential. Candidates from wider civil engineering backgrounds including highways, water, rail and heavy civils will also be considered.

The Role

Working alongside Site Managers, Project Managers and engineering teams, you will provide the technical support required to deliver projects safely, accurately and to specification.

Responsibilities

• Setting out civil engineering works and maintaining dimensional control across site
• Checking levels, coordinates, benchmarks and setting-out information
• Carrying out engineering surveys and maintaining accurate site record
• Preparing and working to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
• Monitoring the quality of workmanship and construction materials
• Supporting works involving drainage, concrete, foundations, piling and associated civil engineering
• Reviewing drawings and specifications and identifying potential issues before construction
• Assisting with the coordination and planning of day-to-day site activities
• Working closely with subcontractors, supervisors and other members of the delivery team
• Ensuring construction activities are completed in line with relevant quality, safety and environmental requirements
• Maintaining engineering records and providing information to both the delivery and commercial teams
• Supporting the site team in resolving engineering and construction issues as they arise

What We're Looking For

You should have previous experience working as a Site Engineer

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience setting out civil engineering works
• Good understanding of quality assurance and site inspection processes
• Experience preparing or working with ITPs
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Experience using engineering and surveying equipment
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• A valid CSCS card
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Additional qualifications such as Temporary Works, First Aid or CAT & Genny/HSG47 would be advantageous but are not essential.

• Experience within substations, renewable energy, power infrastructure or Transmission & Distribution projects would also be beneficial.

Working Pattern

This is a national position, so applicants must be comfortable travelling throughout the UK and staying away when required, which would be Monday - Friday.

Projects will vary depending on workload and programme requirements, making this particularly suited to someone who wants exposure to major infrastructure schemes across different regions.
