We are recruiting a Setting Out Engineer for a respected UK Groundworks, RC Frame & civil engineering contractor on a project in Portsmouth. You will lead setting out activities, maintain survey data, interpret drawings and ensure QA/QC standards on site.

The role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration with subcontractors and design teams, and adherence to health and safety procedures. You should possess AutoCAD skills, experience with Leica/Trimble TS16, and a current CSCS card.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Setting Out Engineer for Groundworks, RC Frame or Civil Engineering contractors.
• Strong QA procedures, as-built surveys and site documentation understanding.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and interpreting technical drawings.
• Competent using Leica or Trimble surveying equipment (TS16) and owning a laptop with AutoCAD.
• Must hold a valid CSCS card and UK driving licence; SMSTS/SSSTS desirable.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for groundworks, drainage and foundations to specification.
• Maintain site control points and survey data; produce as-built records.
• Interpret drawings, perform QA/QC inspections and documentation.
• Raise RFIs and monitor tolerances; liaise with subs, site managers and design teams.
• Support site planning, problem solving, and uphold safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out for groundworks, drainage, & foundations.
• Establishing and maintaining site control points and survey data.
• Producing and maintaining accurate as-built surveys and records.
• Interpreting and checking engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carrying out QA/QC inspections and completing quality documentation.
• Raising and managing RFIs where required.
• Monitoring tolerances and ensuring works are delivered to specification.
• Liaising with subcontractors, site managers and design teams.
• Assisting with site planning and engineering problem solving.
• Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety on site.

Criteria:

• Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer for a Groundworks, RC Frame or Civil Engineering contractor.
• Strong knowledge of foundations, drainage, external works and reinforced concrete structures.
• Competent using Leica or Trimble surveying equipment (TS16)
• Experience using AutoCAD and interpreting technical drawings.
• Must have own Laptop with AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of QA procedures, as-built surveys and site documentation.
• CSCS Card (Essential).
• SMSTS or SSSTS (Desirable).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Pay: £(Apply online only)per day (depending upon experience).

Hours: 07:30 - 17:00
