Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking a Site Engineer to work on a major civils project in Northwest Wales. You will perform precise setting out, interpret drawings and coordinate with site teams to deliver quality works on schedule.

The role requires 2+ years of civil engineering experience, a CSCS card, and proficiency with Leica TS16 and GPS surveying tools. AutoCAD experience and a focus on safety and quality are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven setting out and site engineering experience on civil projects.
• CSCS card holder with good health & safety knowledge.
• Proficient in surveying instruments including Leica TS16 and GPS.

Responsibilities

• Core site engineering duties including precise setting out from drawings and specs.

Site Engineer - Tier 1 Contractor - Civil Engineering - Major Project - Northwest Wales (Snowdonia)

The role is for an engineer based in the Porthmadog area of North Wales to work on a major civils project.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years working on civil engineering projects, preferably undertaking setting out and other quality duties.

Duties:

• Core site engineering responsibilities, including precise setting out of works using engineering drawings, specifications, and control points.
• Deliver key elements of external civil works, such as pavement construction, road surfacing, kerb laying, and drainage installation, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory standards.
• Operating Leica TS16 Total Station and GPS surveying equipment for accurate spatial data capture and layout, supporting high-precision construction.
• Coordinate daily operations with subcontractors and site teams
• Manage the full project cycle of assigned tasks from site setup to final handover and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Interpret and implement technical drawings, method statements, and risk assessments, contributing to safe and efficient on-site execution.

Person Specification:

• Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• CSCS card (relevant to role).
• Proven experience in setting out and site engineering on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in using surveying instruments such as Leica Total Stations (e.g., TS16) and GPS equipment.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, site health & safety, and quality assurance procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Competent in AutoCAD and basic site documentation/reporting.
