Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd in the UK Northwest Wales area is recruiting a Site Engineer for a major civil engineering project. The role focuses on precise setting out, reading drawings, and coordinating on-site activities to ensure quality and safety.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in civil projects, experience with Leica TS16 and GPS surveying, and a Civil Engineering degree. CSCS and strong QA knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proven setting-out and site engineering experience on civil/infrastructure projects.
• CSCS card and ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Core site engineering: precise setting out using drawings, specs and control points.
• Deliver external civil works: pavements, road surfacing, kerbs, drainage.
• Operate Leica TS16 Total Station and GPS surveying equipment for accurate data.
• Coordinate daily operations with subcontractors and site teams.
• Manage tasks from site setup to handover with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Interpret drawings, method statements and risk assessments for safe on-site execution.

Job description

Site Engineer - Tier 1 Contractor - Civil Engineering - Major Project - Northwest Wales (Snowdonia)

The role is for an engineer based in the Porthmadog area of North Wales to work on a major civils project.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years working on civil engineering projects, preferably undertaking setting out and other quality duties.

Duties:

Core site engineering responsibilities, including precise setting out of works using engineering drawings, specifications, and control points.

Deliver key elements of external civil works, such as pavement construction, road surfacing, kerb laying, and drainage installation, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory standards.

Operating Leica TS16 Total Station and GPS surveying equipment for accurate spatial data capture and layout, supporting high-precision construction.

Coordinate daily operations with subcontractors and site teams

Manage the full project cycle of assigned tasks from site setup to final handover and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Interpret and implement technical drawings, method statements, and risk assessments, contributing to safe and efficient on-site execution.

Person Specification:

Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

CSCS card (relevant to role).

Proven experience in setting out and site engineering on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Proficient in using surveying instruments such as Leica Total Stations (e.g., TS16) and GPS equipment.

Strong knowledge of construction processes, site health & safety, and quality assurance procedures.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and method statements.

Competent in AutoCAD and basic site documentation/reporting.
