Site Engineer / Senior Engineer : Utilities and Civils

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk Job Type: Contract Duration: 12 Months Start Date: ASAP Rate: Competitive and dependent on experience

Are you a skilled Site Engineer or Senior Engineer with a strong background in utilities and civil engineering? We have an excellent long:term opportunity for a project in Ipswich requiring heavy setting out experience.

We are urgently seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Site Engineer or Senior Engineer for a 12:month contract on a significant utilities and civil engineering project in Ipswich. This role is heavily focused on setting out and requires a candidate with meticulous attention to detail and proven experience in this area.

This is an immediate requirement, and we are looking to get someone started on site as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high:volume, precise setting out for all site works, including utilities, drainage, pipework, and associated civil engineering elements.
• Establish and maintain site control, datums, and survey stations.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into accurate setting out on site.
• Manage and ensure the quality of all technical aspects of the works, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Conduct as:built surveys and maintain accurate site records.
• Liaise with the site management team, subcontractors, and designers to resolve any technical issues.
• Uphold and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental standards.
• For Senior Engineer candidates, responsibilities will extend to overseeing junior engineers, managing engineering activities, and contributing to short:term programming.
  
  

Required Skills And Experience

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer within the utilities and civil engineering sectors.
• Demonstrable heavy setting out experience is essential for this role.
• Proficiency with modern surveying equipment (Total Station/EDM, GPS).
• Ability to read and understand complex technical drawings and specifications.
• A strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Valid CSCS card is mandatory.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (HNC, HND, Degree).
• For Senior Engineer applicants, previous experience in a supervisory or senior capacity is required.
