Gist Limited is building a new distribution site in partnership with M&S and seeks a Site Engineer to deliver preventative maintenance and reactive repairs. You’ll work with the Site Engineering Manager to diagnose faults, fix equipment, and maintain safe, compliant facilities in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Delivering planned preventative maintenance across site facilities and engineering assets.
• Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs.
• Diagnosing faults and delivering first-time fixes wherever possible.
• Maintaining building services and site infrastructure to the highest standards.
• Carrying out inspections to ensure the site remains safe, compliant and operational.
• Acting as the site’s Legionella Responsible Person and ensuring water systems meet requirements.
• Supporting refrigeration systems and general building services maintenance.
• Completing engineering documentation accurately using CMMS.
• Working safely in line with procedures, legislation and policies.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to boost reliability and reduce downtime.

About The Role

As a Site Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across the site, ensuring our facilities and equipment remain safe, compliant and operational.

Working alongside the Site Engineering Manager and wider engineering team, you’ll diagnose faults, complete repairs, support continuous improvement initiatives and help minimise downtime across the operation.

No two days will be the same, and your work will have a direct impact on keeping one of Gist’s newest logistics sites performing at its best.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability and reduce downtime.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll Bring

• Experience within facilities engineering, industrial maintenance or building services.
• A practical, hands‑on approach with excellent fault‑finding skills.
• Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines, including:
• Plumbing
• Welding
• Hydraulics
• Pneumatics
• Electrical systems
• A solid understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
• The ability to prioritise workloads within a fast‑moving operational environment.
• A proactive approach to health, safety and compliance.
• Experience working within a unionised environment would be advantageous.
