Job summary

s1jobs is seeking a Site Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor in the UK. You will work with the site team to apply technical expertise, deliver works to spec, and uphold quality, safety and efficiency across all project stages.

Ideal candidates will have a Civil Engineering qualification, site experience, and strong skills in setting out, surveying and using software like AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Previous site engineering experience in construction/civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of setting out techniques and surveying equipment (GPS, total station).

Responsibilities

  • Set out works in accordance with drawings, specs and project requirements.
  • Review technical drawings for accuracy and buildability.
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with design specs and regulations.
  • Carry out site surveys and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor quality control and workmanship standards.
  • Support planning and coordination to meet deadlines.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and project team.
  • Maintain site QA records and progress reports.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues on site.

A well-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor, known for delivering high-quality infrastructure and construction projects across the UK, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site Engineer. Working as part of the site team, you will provide technical expertise, ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, and contribute to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set out works in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Interpret and review technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and buildability
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams, subcontractors, and operatives
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with design specifications and relevant regulations
  • Carry out site surveys, establish control points, and maintain accurate records
  • Monitor quality control procedures and ensure high standards of workmanship
  • Support the planning and coordination of site activities to meet programme deadlines
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and the wider project team
  • Maintain site documentation including as-built records, QA records, and progress reports
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and contribute to practical engineering solutions
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on site
  • Assist with the management of materials, plant, and resources
Skills & Experience
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a site engineering role within construction or civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of setting out techniques and surveying equipment (e.g. GPS, total station)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, health & safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Proficient in relevant software (e.g. AutoCAD, MS Office)
