Job summary

Octavius Infrastructure is recruiting a Site Engineer for the A46 Walsgrave Junction Upgrade in Coventry. The role focuses on setting out, surveying and supporting site teams on a major highways civils project, with a minimum 6 months contract and a shift-based rate.

The ideal candidate will have strong highways and earthworks experience, be proficient in setting out, reading drawings, QA checks and communicating clearly with subcontractors and managers on a busy construction site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on highways/civils projects.
• Strong experience delivering earthworks and highways works.
• Good knowledge of setting out and surveying.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience carrying out QA checks and maintaining accurate site records.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and management.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving engineering issues.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or demonstrable site-based engineering experience.
• Appropriate CSCS card and relevant site qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate surveying and setting out to enable the construction of the works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Provide clear, accurate and timely engineering and setting out information to site teams.
• Monitor and check that works are constructed to the correct positions, levels and specifications.
• Liaise closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and the wider development team to ensure engineering information is understood and implemented correctly.
• Carry out quality assurance checks in line with project and company QA procedures.
• Support the delivery of works safely and efficiently, ensuring activities are planned and completed in line with the programme.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, documentation and as-built information where required.
• Identify and communicate any engineering issues or discrepancies to the relevant site management team.
• Work collaboratively with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative site culture, with safety and quality at the heart of delivery.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join the major A46 Walsgrave Junction Upgrade in Coventry, working with Octavius Infrastructure, a leading Tier 1 contractor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major highways project, with a minimum of 6 months work and the potential for further opportunities beyond this.

We are particularly interested in engineers with a strong background in highways, earthworks and general civil engineering, who are confident with setting out and providing accurate engineering support to site teams.
