Job summary

Bodycote plc in Chesterfield is seeking a hands-on Site Maintenance Engineer to maintain reliability and safety of production equipment and site facilities. You'll diagnose faults, lead improvement initiatives, and coordinate contractors to keep the plant running smoothly.

The role offers variety, autonomy, and real responsibility, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement, health and safety compliance, and site performance. Rotating shifts 06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00.

Qualifications

  • Electrical qualification with mechanical understanding.
  • Hands-on engineering and maintenance experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Strong fault finding and problem solving skills.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects and coordinating contractors.
  • Proactive, self-motivated approach with ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
  • Desire to continuously learn, improve and contribute to site success.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site facilities.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands on, multi skilled engineer to join our team in a role that offers variety, autonomy, and real responsibility.

As Site Maintenance Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our operation, ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of a wide range of specialist equipment and site infrastructure. No two days are the same. You'll tackle complex fault finding challenges, lead improvement initiatives, support engineering projects, and play a key role in driving operational excellence.

You'll work closely with production teams, contractors, and fellow engineers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and site performance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership, and seeing the direct impact of their work on a busy manufacturing environment.

What You’re Be Doing
