Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer for a major Midlands infrastructure project with a £50m turnover civils contractor. You will provide technical support, ensure accurate setting out, and manage QA and RAMS across heavy civils, RC structures and below-ground works.

Experience with robotic total stations or GPS, reading drawings, and coordinating with subcontractors is essential. This role offers a challenging project environment and close collaboration with the Site

Qualifications

• Extensive site engineering experience in heavy civils and infrastructure.
• Ability to set out using robotic total stations or GPS.
• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing QA documentation such as ITPs and quality records.
• Familiar with RAMS and construction documentation.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors and site teams.
• Perform dimensional checks and ensure works meet specifications.
• Manage as-built survey data and site records.
• Collaborative work with Site Agent and Project Manager.

• Monitoring progress and ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a well-established £50m turnover civils contractor working on a major infrastructure project in the Midlands.

The project is water-biased, incorporating a range of heavy civils, reinforced concrete structures, drainage and below-ground infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer with strong setting out and civil engineering experience to join a busy project team.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support across the project, ensuring works are accurately set out and delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

You should have experience with:

• Water infrastructure projects.


• Heavy civils and complex groundworks.


• Reinforced concrete structures and foundations.


• Drainage and below-ground infrastructure.


• Setting out using robotic total stations/GPS.


• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.


• ITPs, QA and as-built records.


• RAMS and construction documentation.


• Working alongside subcontractors and site teams.

Previous experience with a Tier 1 or established civils contractor would be advantageous.

Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, along with a suitable CSCS card, are preferred.
