Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer for a brand-new civil engineering project in the Scottish Borders (Selkirk / Hawick area). This hands-on role focuses on setting out and on-site delivery, reporting to the Site Manager to ensure works meet drawings and specifications.

You will set out roads and drainage, provide accurate levels and measurements, check against drawings, and maintain site records.

Qualifications

• Experience setting out roads and drainage on civil projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong on-site delivery, quality checks and records management.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join a brand-new civil engineering project in the Scottish Borders.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys being out on site, taking ownership of setting out and playing a key role in the successful delivery of the works. You'll be joining an established and well-respected contractor on an interesting project, with the opportunity to remain on the job through Christmas and potentially beyond.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day engineering and setting out requirements on site, working closely with the Site Manager and wider project team to ensure works are delivered accurately and to specification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting out roads, drainage and associated civil engineering works
• Providing accurate levels, lines and measurements for construction activities
• Checking works against drawings, specifications and design requirements
• Working closely with site management, subcontractors and engineering teams
• Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
• Carrying out quality checks and maintaining accurate site records
• Supporting the wider project team with engineering and technical requirements
• Ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and in line with programme requirements

About You

We're looking for an experienced Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering. You'll need to be confident working independently on site, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and setting out roads and drainage.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get stuck into a substantial project rather than sit behind a desk.
