Job Description

The Site Design Coordinator role will be based in the Birmingham area, and we require candidates who either reside locally or are a reasonably commutable distance from the site.

• You will be responsible for managing the design processes of subcontractors within civil works on one of the HZI construction sites, liaising with the Lead Engineer Civil at the Head Office.
• You will ensure that civil works are executed in accordance with the contract, adhering to project timelines, budgets, HSE standards, and quality requirements.
• You will manage the design interface with external and/or in-house design teams, proactively establish the design release schedule, monitor progress, and ensure milestones are met while mitigating risks and delays.
• You will evaluate designs provided by others and facilitate technically sound construction solutions considering the complexity of the works.
• You will represent the civil design department at internal and external meetings as necessary, with limited travel (up to 10%).
• You will provide feedback on construction experiences to inform current and future projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil/structural engineering or architecture with at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry; experience with both consultants and contractors is advantageous.
• Strong experience in civil project management and design coordination, preferably in large-scale civil, industrial, or plant construction projects.
• Solution-oriented, proactive planner, and effective communicator with good negotiation skills, resilience, and a structured work approach.
• Good knowledge of QA processes applicable to civil construction.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
