Job summary

Trostan-Dene is seeking an experienced Site Buyer to join our manufacturing operations. The role focuses on end-to-end procurement of inventory and services, ensuring cost-effective purchases and timely delivery while maintaining Quality and supplier reliability.

You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate effectively, and drive process improvements to support operational efficiency and business growth. On-site parking is available at the Chorley site.

Qualifications

• You will have proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer in manufacturing operations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
• Commercial mindset with ability to negotiate with suppliers and drive cost efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage procurement of inventory and services to support operations.
• Ensure purchases are cost-effective, meet quality requirements, and are delivered on time.
• Source and manage supplier relationships and monitor performance for value and reliability.
• Evaluate inventory needs, determine stock levels, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Raise and expedite purchase orders from creation through delivery to meet timescales.
• Identify and implement procurement process improvements to boost efficiency and growth.

You will join a successful global manufacturing business who combine international expertise with local manufacturing knowledge to deliver industry leading products.

Job duties

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Site Buyer will oversee the following-

• Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the procurement of inventory, non-inventory goods, and services to support the organisation’s operational and business needs.
• Ensure all purchases are cost-effective, meet quality requirements, and are delivered in a timely manner.
• Manage the sourcing and supply of products and services, develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, and monitor supplier performance to ensure value, quality, and reliability.
• Responsible for evaluating inventory requirements, determining optimum stock and reorder levels, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Raise, track, and expedite purchase orders from creation through to delivery, ensuring that goods and services are received in accordance with business requirements and agreed timescales.
• Actively identify areas for improvement within procurement processes and implement changes that support operational efficiency and business growth.

Looking for

You will have proven experience and achievement at Buyer or Senior Buyer role, ideally within manufacturing operations. With excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, you will have a commercial mindset and be confident negotiating with suppliers. You will also have strong organisational and problem solving abilities with an work approach that looks to improve business / operations processes where possible.
