Free-Work is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a site-based role at India Queens Substation, Cornwall. You will own commercial activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring robust cost control, change management, and accurate reporting.

The role requires a commercially focused professional with substations, transmission, or major infrastructure experience. NEC contracts expertise and the ability to lead on-site are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in power, utilities, or major infrastructure.
• Experience on substations, transmission, or National Grid projects.
• Experience with NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management.
• Ability to operate independently in a site-based lead role.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead all on-site commercial and quantity surveying activities.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, valuations, and cashflow.
• Administer contracts, change control, and compensation events.
• Prepare and negotiate subcontract packages and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Produce cost/value reconciliation reports and financial forecasts.
• Monitor commercial performance and identify risks/opportunities.
• Provide contractual/commercial advice to the delivery team.
• Manage payment applications and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements and governance.
• Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and stakeholders.
