Job summary

Astute People, via its Power Team, is recruiting a Project & Systems Maintenance Engineer for a site-based permanent role with a leading Energy from Waste operator. You will monitor and improve maintenance systems, lead plant modification projects, investigate faults, and support outages to maximise reliability, efficiency and operational output while ensuring safe practices and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in an engineering or maintenance supervisory role within an energy-from-waste or comparable process plant environment.
• Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and experience in maintaining complex process plant.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and technical specifications.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with contractor management experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve maintenance systems, procedures and plant performance to maximise reliability, efficiency and output.
• Lead plant modification projects, coordinating contractors and managing changes with up-to-date documentation.
• Investigate equipment failures, perform fault-finding and root cause analysis with corrective actions.
• Support preventative maintenance planning, outages and continuous improvement across the site.
• Coordinate contractor maintenance activities, including fire protection systems, civil works and air conditioning.
• Monitor asset management, stores, procurement and the CMMS.
• Support budget preparation, cost monitoring and reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and site rules.
• Produce technical and management reports, maintain asset records and P&IDs, support audits and inspections.
