Keeping Safety and Quality at the Heart of Our Electricity Network.

We’re looking for a Site Assurance Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of utility infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assuring the safety and quality of multi-million-pound Overhead Line (OHL) construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring our work meets the highest standards across a range of dynamic and challenging environments. We’re flexible on your base location in the north of England.

No two days are the same. You’ll be travelling to a variety of OHL sites across the north of England (Preston, Leeds, Newcastle, Newark) working alongside project teams and key stakeholders to ensure everything from tools and PPE to site demarcation and lifting equipment meets safety and compliance standards. While on site, you’ll review construction packs and ensure installations match manufacturer specifications, maintaining a proactive presence that helps our teams stay on track and in line with company procedures.

This role goes beyond inspections. You’ll support the SHEQ Manager by investigating incidents and near misses, identifying trends through data analysis, and compiling reports that inform and improve future performance. You’ll also play a vital role in communicating learning outcomes to site teams, responding to on-the-ground needs, and collaborating with other Assurance Engineers to drive continuous improvement.

Must haves:

• Min NVQ L3 or ONC engineering qualification.
• Proven experience of site-based assurance activities.
• Experience of QMS – Quality Management Systems.
• Understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
• NEBOSH / IOSH / SMSTS.

Pay and Benefits

• A competitive salary between £47,442 to £57,000 pa + Benefits package + Company Vehicle + Paid Travel
• 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
• The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
• Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Totalling 18%.
• Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – relevant to your role.
• Access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
• Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
• Access to apps which support health, fitness and wellbeing.

If you’re someone who thrives in the field, enjoys variety, and is committed to creating safer, smarter infrastructure in the utility sector, we’d love to hear from you, apply now.
