Role: Construction Assurance Manager

Salary: £55,596 to £63,797 per annum.

Location: Manchester with attendance to offices/sites along the TransPennine Route Upgrade Footprint as required

Contract Type: Full time - Permanent.

Office Requirement: Hybrid - 2 - 3 days office requirement

28 days annual leave + bank holidays

Transpennine Route Upgrade

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is the largest Infrastructure project in the North delivering £10.7 billion Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.

Stretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 11 level crossings.

Proposed improvements as will deliver a hard-working, reliable railway for passengers, allowing for trains with more seats, more services and faster journey times.

Brief Description

Lead the construction assurance function completion management to provide Network Rail and its supply chain confidence that works are being delivered in line with standards and contractual requirements, with focus on quality and the supporting evidence to assure completion of projects.

About the role (External)

Some of the key accountabilities of this role are:

1. Lead the completions strategy for construction, leveraging expertise as required.

2. Discharge the TRU completions process for effective governance and assurance of supply chain activities.

3. Review Inspection and Test Plans and supporting information so that contractual and Safety obligations can be effectively assured for all disciplines

4. Educate and support the delivery teams adopting the completions Strategy and process

5. Collaborate with the Programme Completions team and supply chain to ensure balanced and consistent approaches within the Enterprise operating model.

6. Develop and digitalise systems/processes, including ITPs and check sheets, to gain insights for improvement and promote good practices.

7. Develop and implement improvement plans to improve performance in the supply chain where required regarding quality assurance and continuous improvement.

8. Form working relationships with suppliers, senior management and regularly meet to promote continuous improvement and agree how to best share identified best practice.

9. Effectively represent and present construction completions at relevant senior level meetings

You must have:

• Demonstrable experience and success within a construction assurance function.

• Construction Industry Training Board - Site Manager Safety Training Scheme or similar or equivalent experience.

• Membership of a relevant professional body for example Chartered Institute of Building, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Railway Signal Engineers or equivalent

• Demonstrable experience of leading assurance inspections. Significant experience of leading a multi-disciplinary construction assurance function team.

• Demonstrable significant experience of the CDM Regulations and health & safety legislation, regulations and industry practices.

• IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web-based audit tools)

• Ability to operate effectively in both a site and in an office environment.

• Demonstrable experience of bringing different people together; promoting working as one team,

• Demonstrable experience of challenging self and others to improve services and approaches.

• Demonstrates a passion to deliver and motivates others to work at their best.

• Demonstrable experience of supporting the physical and mental well-being and safety of themselves and colleagues and of challenging business and safety related risks.

• Demonstrable experience of positively representing themselves/ their team within and external to the business

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Educated to degree level

• Experience within the rail industry
