Job description

Employer's Name: Bellingham Camping Northumberland Location: Northumberland

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and ‘hands-on` pair to join our team at Bellingham Camping Northumberland (formerly the Camping and Caravanning Club Site) as seasonal Site Assistants/Wardens.

You would each be on 40 hrs per week, with the same 2 consecutive days off (non-weekend). You are needed to replace a current couple who are globetrotting next year - they seem to like alternating travel with working with us!

The new pair/couple will assist the Site Managers/Owners in the day-to-day running of our idyllic camp site in Northumberland, near Bellingham. The assistants are required for the job from 1st April to 31st October 2027 (inclusive) but are welcome to arrive on site up to 1 week earlier and stay later.

We require a couple who take ownership of tasks, enjoy their work, and take pride in everything they do. They must enjoy interacting with customers and have an easy-going nature. The business is very much customer focused and we pride ourselves on doing the very best for all customers who stay.

Your hours will vary between late shifts (approximately 11:00-20:00 (with variations) and early shifts (approx. 8.30am-5.00pm).

The appointed couple must live on site in their own single touring unit, with free pitch, electrics, gas and laundry, plus access to toilets and hot showers.

NB. The pitch is NOT SERVICED with its own water supply or drainage.

Salaries are PAYE, with good pension offered as well as holiday pay, whether taken or not (holiday should be avoided as much as possible during the season, with the exception of necessary family events). We do offer two periods of 2 additional days off into your contract which run concurrently with the normal days off to give extended breaks (late June/mid-Sept). Holiday pay in line with the National requirement is paid in lieu at the end of contract.

Duties (shared with the Owners/Managers/ other Assistants) are varied including all aspects of running the site such as manning reception & shop, grounds maintenance, siting camping units (caravans, motorhomes, tents), dealing with customer enquiries, taking phone calls, bookings and payments, gas deliveries, cleaning of toilet/shower block and camping pods.

We operate a `everyone does everything` approach for maximum flexibility of duties (i.e., NOT a male/female outside/inside split). Everyone gets an equal go at booking customers in, pitching vans, cleaning, mowing grass, weeding, maintenance jobs etc!! Each person is expected to pitch in with all aspects.

Previous experience is an advantage but not essential. Training will be provided and you should quickly be competent enough to run the site in our absence if necessary.

We have built up a top reputation as a friendly, welcoming and helpful site team and that is our top objective, in addition to offering great facilities. We hold a 5 Gold Pennants Award from the AA and a 5* Visit England rating.

More details on the Site are available on our new website (www.bellinghamcampingnorthumberland.uk) and at facebook/bellinghamCamp

At present, given that we are hoping to sell the site at some point, it is unclear whether we will be able to extend your appointment to the following 2028 season. If we sell during 2027, we guarantee salary for the full contract.

Many thanks

Johanna and David
