Job summary

Park House School in Newbury, Berkshire is seeking a dependable Site Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our premises, helping to keep our buildings, grounds and facilities safe, secure and operating effectively for everyone.

You will carry out practical tasks, assist with maintenance and repairs, support health and safety compliance and help prepare the school for daily activities and events, including transporting students with the minibus.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance repairs.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Valid D1 driving license.
• Flexible to cover premises opening/closing and events.
• Willingness to work as part of a team.

We are looking for a dependable Site Assistant to support the day to day running of our premises, helping to keep our buildings, grounds and facilities safe, secure and operating effectively for everyone.

About the Role

As a Site Assistant, you will support the day to day management of the school site, helping to ensure that our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and well maintained. You will carry out a variety of practical tasks, assist with maintenance and repairs, support health and safety compliance and help prepare the school for daily activities and events. An important part of the role is to support the transport service, driving students to or from school.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Undertaking a range of re-decoration and maintenance work, as agreed with the Site or Regional Estates Manager to ensure a high standard of repair and decoration throughout the school.
• Driving the school minibus in a responsible and competent manner, ensuring the safety of the passengers, other road users, members of the public and yourself at all times.
• General porterage duties to include the setting out and putting away furniture as necessary, including possible room changes.
• Undertaking activities to maintain a safe and clean external environment e.g. gritting, litter picks, waste collection and removal, graffiti removal, safe access routes and keeping drains free from obstruction.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has the ability to undertake general maintenance repairs
• Experience of H&S compliance practices and Safe Systems of Working
• Holds a clean, current and valid driving licence with D1 entitlement.
• Self-motivated and ability to use initiative to work to deadlines
• Is flexible to cover premises opening, closing, heating, and availability of equipment as necessary for any school events and lettings.
