Job summary

Linear Recruitment Ltd. has a freelance Site Agent position for a major civil infrastructure and earthworks project in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

You will lead and oversee a multi-disciplinary team, drive site delivery to programme, and manage budgets, cost forecasts and subcontractors on NEC-based commercial interfaces. The role emphasizes safety, quality and environmental compliance, with ownership of handover documentation and client sign-offs.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Agent on major civil/infrastructure projects.
• Experience delivering heavy earthworks, pavement reconstruction and energy infrastructure.
• Valid CSCS card; SMSTS certification.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts, cost management and forecasting.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage site operations across a designated section of the project, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring delivery against programme milestones.
• Manage section budgets, prepare accurate financial forecasts and cost plans, and identify opportunities for cost recovery and value engineering.
• Review construction programmes, develop target programmes and monitor progress to ensure works are delivered on schedule.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, performance, KPIs and commercial interfaces in accordance with NEC contract requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions where required.
• Keep site teams informed of changes in legislation, procedures and best practice.
• Take ownership of quality assurance, handover documentation, self-certification processes and client sign-offs for the designated section.
• Provide leadership and support to site engineering teams and subcontractors, promoting a collaborative and performance-driven working environment.

Site Agent Major Civil Infrastructure & Earthworks

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract (PAYE)

Location: Peterhead, Aberdeenshire

Rate: £50.00 per hour (PAYE)

Project: Major Energy Infrastructure & Substation Project

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Site Agent to join a leading principal contractor delivering a major energy infrastructure and substation project in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven civil engineering professional with a strong background in delivering complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure packages, including heavy earthworks, road construction, fencing and drainage.

As Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management, leadership and operational delivery of a designated section of works, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers and Foremen to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Essential Requirements

• Extensive experience working as a Site Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience delivering complex civil engineering packages, including bulk earthworks, pavement reconstruction, haul roads, structures or energy infrastructure.
• Valid CSCS card, with a Black Manager card preferred.
• SMSTS certification.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contract forms, cost management, financial forecasting and commercial project controls.
• Demonstrable experience managing multi-disciplinary site teams and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental management systems, incident investigation and safe systems of work.
• Full UK driving licence.
