Job summary

Balfour Beatty Rail is recruiting a Site Agent for a London-based role to manage all phases of a multi-discipline site. You will ensure works are delivered safely, to design, and in line with the programme, coordinating with engineers and the project team.

The role requires strong organisational and safety focus, experience in rail or major construction, and the ability to lead multiple workstreams while maintaining quality and progress on site.

Qualifications

  • Rail industry experience is essential.
  • Trade apprenticeship within construction is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into design development to ensure constructability.
  • Prepare method statements for delivery of works with discipline engineers.
  • Ensure pre-start briefings and checklists are completed and site briefings given.
  • Maintain PPE compliance and safe working practices.
  • Encourage reporting and close-out of incidents and near-misses.
  • Ensure correct plant and materials are on site and sub-contractor briefings are completed.
  • Plan materials and plant with project team to meet programme.
  • Support quality team with inspections and snagging.

About the role

Balfour Beatty Rail are recruiting for a Site Agent to join the team based in London. The function of this role is to manage all aspects of a Multi discipline site location ensuring that the allocated site(s) are delivered in a safe manner, constructed in accordance with the Accepted design to meet the Balfour Beatty Right First-time quality objectives ensuring that the installed works meet the requirements of the programme.



What you'll be doing

Provide input into design development to ensure constructability.


Prepare method statements for the delivery of the works in conjunction with discipline
engineers.


Provide information where designs need to be updated due to site conditions and changes


Ensure that all pre start briefings and check lists are completed prior to any works commencing, ensuring that all members of the working party and visitors get a site briefing


Ensure the working parties maintain compliance with mandatory PPE requirements


Encourage the reporting and close out of incidents of close calls using the appropriate means


Ensure the working party understand the requirements of the design, method statement and all associated hazards when setting to work.


Ensure that the correct plant and materials are on site prior to work commencing


Ensure that all sub contract working parties are briefed on the site hazards and the subcontract lead completes all required briefings and check lists.


Work closely with the project team to plan the requirements for materials and plant to meet the programme requirements


Ensure that all required test sheets and inspection and test plans are completed through the lifecycle of the works


Support the quality team to complete timely inspections and close out snag lists as soon as possible


Ensure that the site remains tidy throughout the works, work with the engineer to plan locations for storage and arrange suitable shelving etc


Ensure the welfare facilities remain in good condition and clean


Support the training and development of new staff and apprentices


Feedback all progress and issues to the engineer via regular communication and the completion of a daily diary sheet.



Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:


Rail Industry experience is highly desirable for this role


Ideally completed a trade apprenticeship within the construction industry, preferably electrical


Flexible, hardworking and good communication skills


Strong organisational skills & works well under pressure


Ability to multitask effectively


Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.


Good Multidiscipline technical ability
