Tribuild is recruiting an experienced Site Agent for a high-profile Thames Water pipeline project based in South East London. You will manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, budget adherence, and technical quality across the works.

You will interpret complex drawings, coordinate direct labour and subcontractors, and report progress to the Project Manager. Strong communication and commercial awareness are essential for success on this major utilities framework.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent on major civil engineering or pipeline projects.
  • Current CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work certifications.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills managing diverse teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and coordinating site activities, including management of direct labour and sub‑contractors.
  • Ensuring all site operations adhere to health, safety, and environmental legislation and Thames Water protocols.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to ensure pipeline installation meets design and quality standards.
  • Monitoring progress against the programme and reporting risks or delays to the Project Manager.
  • Liaising with stakeholders, utility providers, and client representatives to minimise disruption.
  • Coordinating delivery and allocation of materials, plant, and equipment.
  • Implementing QA processes and maintaining site records, test results, and inspection reports.
  • Mentoring site engineers and junior staff to foster high performance and safety.

Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 contractor to appoint an experienced Site Agent for a high-profile Thames Water pipeline infrastructure project based in South East London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major framework delivery team on a long‑term, critical infrastructure scheme. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, to budget, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities & Day‑to‑Day Duties
  • Site Management: Directing and coordinating site activities, including the management of direct labour and sub‑contractors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all site operations strictly adhere to health, safety, and environmental legislation, as well as Thames Water's specific site safety protocols.
  • Technical Delivery: Interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications to ensure the pipeline is installed in accordance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Progress Reporting: Monitoring daily progress against the construction programme, reporting on productivity, and identifying potential risks or delays to the Project Manager.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaising with local stakeholders, utility providers, and client representatives to ensure minimal disruption and effective communication throughout the works.
  • Resource Management: Coordinating the delivery and allocation of materials, plant, and equipment to ensure the site is fully resourced at all times.
  • Quality Control: Implementing and maintaining rigorous quality assurance (QA) processes, including the completion of site records, test results, and inspection reports.
  • Team Leadership: Providing mentorship and technical guidance to site engineers and junior staff, fostering a culture of high performance and safety.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Agent on major civil engineering or pipeline projects (previous experience on Thames Water or similar utility frameworks is highly advantageous).
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline installation techniques, trenching, and deep drainage.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent).
  • Current CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work certification.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and client expectations.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience in managing site costs and change control.
