Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Band 6 position in the Children’s Outpatients Department, 22.5 hours per week. The post will involve supporting the department manager in daily operations and clinic staffing.

You will liaise with multidisciplinary teams, families and carers to address queries and complaints, and you will supervise staff ensuring appraisals, training and performance are monitored.

Responsibilities

• Support the band 7 department manager in the daily running of the department, ensuring clinics are staffed appropriately and managed in accordance to the speciality clinic.
• Liaise with the multidisciplinary teams, families and carers ensuring queries and complaints are dealt with effectively.
• Supervise staff ensuring appraisals are complete, training and performance is monitored.

Southampton Children's Hospital Outpatient Department currently has a band 6 vacancy for 22.5 hours a week.

The role will require you to support the band 7 department manager in the daily running of the department, ensuring clinics are staffed appropriately and managed in accordance to the speciality clinic. The Children's Outpatients Department sees over 80,000 children a year across all specialities with specialist clinics for those suffering from Asthma, Allergies, Skin Problems and Diabetes. The department runs a dedicated venepuncture service and supports a preadmission service ensuring all preop tests, observations and paperwork are completed.

Opening hours are 0800-1800 Monday to Friday.
