Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6) - Fixed term Maternity Cover - 12 Months

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Acute/Oncology nursing, strong leadership skills, and serve as a positive role model. Key responsibilities include supporting the Senior Charge Nurse, ensuring safe staffing, developing teams, and contributing to practice development. Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential.
Main duties of the job
- Deputise for and support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Maintain a safe environment, escalate issues appropriately.
- Monitor admissions, ensure compliance, and escalate breaches.
- Support and mentor staff, participate in personal development plans.
- Lead the AACU team, ensure training compliance.
- Assess, plan, and implement clinical care; maintain patient records.
- Organise daily work schedules with appropriate skill mix.
- Be aware of budget considerations.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed.
- Report incidents and complaints, investigate promptly.
- Adhere to trust policies and procedures.
- Assist in recruitment and manage sickness/absence.
- Participate in research and audits to improve practice.
- Maintain up-to-date IV training and clinical skills.
- Attend mandatory training days.
- Provide advice and support for emergency admissions.
- Collaborate with the medical team and MDT for patient care.
- Engage in continuous professional development and unit improvement strategies.
- Promote positive working relationships and uphold professional standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to NMC Code of Conduct.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing Studies
- Teaching & assessing certificate or equivalent
- Management Course
- Post Registration Certificate in Cancer/Acute care or equivalent
