Job summary

Construction, Property and Engineering in Birmingham seeks a Signalling Design Engineer for an immediate-start contract. You will direct teams to ensure safe implementation of signalling projects and meeting customer specifications and timescales, while verifying output quality against required standards and deadlines.

The role requires an Engineering Degree/HND/HNC and strong communication skills; IRSE Designer/Verifier licences are advantageous, with experience in Scheme Plans, LAP, SSI wiring

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• IRSE Signalling Designer Licence and Verifier licence is an advantage.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design production and checking of signalling detail design per standards.
• Perform complex railway signal design tasks to industry codes.
• Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for optimal outcomes.
• Provide guidance to junior design staff on all signalling design aspects.
• Assist in risk assessment of planned and completed designs.

Signalling Design Engineer - Immediate Start

• Birmingham


• 6 month contract


• Outside IR35

My client has an opportunity to join them as a signalling design engineer in their Rail Infrastructure business where you will direct all activities of the teams to achieve the safe implementation of signalling projects to the customer's specifications and timescales agreed. You will also check the quality of output from the relevant section is to the required standards and target dates are achieved.

Candidate Responsibilities

• Undertake design production/checking of the signalling detail design as per relevant standards and Signalling Design Specifications


• Performing complex railway signal design tasks to relevant standards, industry codes and practices


• Interacting with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcome


• Provide functional support and guidance to junior Design staff for all aspects of Signalling Design


• Assist in the risk assessment of planned and completed designs

Candidate Requirements

• Engineering Degree/HND/HNC qualification


• IRSE Signalling Designer Licence and Verifier licence will be advantage


• Strong and effective communication and presentation skills


• Experienced in Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs


• SSI (Westlock) data & Control tables Design experience will be desirable


• WTS- Westlock trackside system technology knowledge will be advantage.
