Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Southern in Brighton is seeking a Shuttering Carpenter to join a reputable civil engineering team. You will form bridges and foundations, build on-site structures in wood or metal, and assist with concrete pours while maintaining safety standards.

We require at least 2 years of shuttering experience and a CSCS card if possible; references accepted if not. The role is site-based and offers ongoing temporary full-time work in a dynamic civil engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Shuttering Carpenter.
• CSCS card preferred; references acceptable if no card.
• Ability to work in a team or alone; health & safety aware.

Responsibilities

• Create forms for bridges, foundations, beams and staircases.
• Build structures on site using wood or metal frames made elsewhere.
• Dismantle casts without damage for reuse.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood or metal.
• Assist with concrete pours into moulds; ensure accuracy.

Salary: GBP25 - GBP27 per hour

Do currently work in Construction? Are you a Shuttering Carpenter or a Gang of Shuttering Carpenters within the civil engineering space and looking for a new opportunity? If the answers are yes, we have roles opening with a reputable civil engineering company in the Brighton area.

• Contract type: Temporary (Full time)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Pay rate: £25-27 per hour

The company:

A well-established national civil engineering company that focuses on the highways, bridges, airports, sewage systems, pipelines, new build residential estates, commercial new builds and railways.

The role:

As the Shuttering Carpenter, you will be responsible for:

• Creating forms for bridges, foundations, beams and staircases
• Building structures on site using wood or putting together metal frames that have been made elsewhere
• Dismantling casts without damaging them, so that they can be used again
• Measuring, cutting, and shaping wood or metal
• Working closely with your team to pour concrete into moulds
• Checking work for accuracy
• Producing concrete blocks of exactly the right shape and size for whatever needs building.

About you:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Shuttering Carpenter
• Ideally hold a CSCS skill card. If not, you must provide relevant references.
• Be able to work in a team or alone.
• Conscious of health & safety
