Stagecoach Bedford Depot is hiring for a Bus Shunter & Cleaner in Bedford. The role involves fuelling, washing, parking, and cleaning a fleet of around 60 vehicles to ensure readiness for service. The rate is £13.91 per hour with late shifts across a 5-from-7 pattern.

You will work as part of a small team, maintaining high presentation standards and accurate records, with strong emphasis on safety and reliability in a busy depot environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, vehicle presentation, facilities, logistics, or a similar operational environment would be advantageous.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Fueling buses as they return to the depot after service.
• Washing and cleaning the exterior and interior of vehicles.
• Safely parking and shunting buses within the depot.
• Cleaning depot facilities and keeping records (fuel and cleaning schedules).

At Stagecoach, presentation and vehicle readiness play a vital role in delivering a safe, welcoming, and professional experience for our customers. We’re looking for a reliable and proactive Bus Shunter / Cleaner to join our team at Bedford Depot.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll be responsible for fuelling, washing, parking, and cleaning our fleet of approximately 60 vehicles, helping to ensure they are ready for service each day.

What you’ll be doing

• Fueling buses as they return to the depot after service.
• Washing and cleaning the exterior of vehicles to maintain high presentation standards.
• Safely parking and shunting buses around the depot.
• Sweeping and cleaning vehicle interiors.
• Carrying out interior, exterior, engine bay, and under-chassis cleaning of company vehicles.
• Cleaning depot facilities, including offices, workshops, welfare areas, and other operational spaces.
• Completing and maintaining accurate records, including fuel records, cleaning schedules, and vehicle information.
• Carrying out regular checks on cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Following all Stagecoach safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in cleaning, vehicle presentation, facilities, logistics, or a similar operational environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• A proactive approach to work and the ability to work independently when required.
• A good understanding of health and safety practices.
• A full UK driving licence is desirable. PCV licence holders are encouraged to apply.
