Job summary

First Bus in Chelmsford is recruiting a full-time Shunter/Cleaner to support the depot team. You will be involved in shunting, fuelling, washing, and routine vehicle cleaning across the fleet, with full training provided.

Hours are 39 per week, 17:00–01:00, five days over seven, including weekends. A valid UK driving license is required; a PCV license earns a higher rate. This role offers a competitive hourly wage and benefits within a busy public transport environment.

Qualifications

• You must hold a valid UK driving license to be considered for this role.
• Previous cleaning experience is desirable.
• Bus driving experience would be beneficial, PCV license not essential.

Responsibilities

• Shunting and banksman duties on vehicles around the depot (full training provided).
• Fuelling/charging vehicles.
• Vehicle under chassis washing using a pressure washer.
• Oil and water top ups.
• Interior vehicle cleaning including monthly deep clean across all vehicles.
• General depot maintenance and cleaning as required.
• Recording details of all work completed accurately.

Position: Shunter/Cleaner

Location: Chelmsford, Westway, CM1 3AR

Contracted Hours: 39 hours per week - full time & permanent

Working Hours:17:00pm-01:00am 5 days over 7 (including weekends)

Pay Rate:£15.17 per hour (£15.76 per hour if you hold a PCV license)
