Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to join our team at The Grange Academy in Bushey. You will deliver a programme of casework to promote educational outcomes and focus on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

Based at the setting, you will work in close partnership with school staff to support children and families from diverse communities, using holistic family support and safeguarding processes.

Qualifications

• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of people.
• Experience in an education setting or similar to improve attendance and engagement.
• Experience working with families from diverse communities and holistic family support.
• Knowledge of safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a programme of casework to promote educational outcomes for children and families.

SHS Family Support Practitioner (School-Based)

Location: The Grange Academy, Bushey WD23 3AA

Hours: 5 days per week, Term Time Only + inset days

Salary: £26,078 - £28,709 per annum (This role is term-time only, the; salary is in line with working weeks)

1st Stage interview: (online interview) 08/10/2026

2nd Stage interview: (in person at the setting) w/b 12/10/2026

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and to make a difference in children's lives every single day. As the Family Support Practitioner, you will be based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will also focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with a wide group of people.

You'll have previous experience of:

• working in an education setting or similar to improve a child's school attendance and engagement in learning
• working and engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
• factors affecting a child's capacity to learn
• working with families from diverse communities
• holistic family support
• safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children
