Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

We are Batch LDN. A made-to-order clothing brand rewriting the way we consume fashion. Our collections are exclusively manufactured using our ‘Batch Model’. A handmade-to-order method that produces only what’s necessary.

It’s a simple premise, if you only make exactly what you need, you cut out all of the waste and overproduction. A slower, more conscious method of manufacture.

As we don’t have to account for the normal fashion mark-up - it allows us to sell high end luxury pieces, at prices you can justify.

Our garments are designed with versatility at the core, being as easy to dress up as they are to dress down. Solving the “what to wear when you want to look good conundrum”.

Think of Batch as the backbone of your wardrobe. The forever favourites. Luxurious, versatile pieces that are fitting for all the big occasions in life.

Batch is on the look for a Shop & Events Manager to work in tandem with the co-founders. We’re hunting for the right person to recruit into our inner circle, who will add value from day one, but also be part of our long term vision to become the go-to made-to-order brand in the world.

The exact specifics around remuneration will depend on the candidate's level of experience and suitability for the role and our team. Industry experience will be a strong consideration, but not the deciding factor. We are hiring based on potential, ambition and cultural fit.

We’re currently operating from a flagship store in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. It’s the heart of the business with a cafe, bar, live dj set up, bespoke private fitting rooms, etc.

We run a busy shop, collaborate with a lot of brands, have jam packed events schedules and have a thriving community of customers and influencers that regularly visit. The store is our foundation to build Batch as a brand - you will be at the core of the action.

There is lots of room for growth in this role and we’re looking for a candidate that also has high growth potential to develop into further roles. You will be at the forefront of supporting the founders in building out and strategising our ambitious retail expansion strategy.

We’re energetic, flexible, highly ambitious and super excited to hear from you. As we’re a small team growing quite quickly, the job will be very hands on, fast paced, varied and intense. We’re looking for people that thrive in this environment. Note: Applications through instant apply won’t be considered. Please email [emailprotected] .

The Job’s Responsibilities:

  • You’ll become the front of house for our Covent Garden flagship. You will engross yourself in our community; nurturing relationships and be there to answer any questions that might arise.
  • You’ll support the Founders & Head of Retail on welcoming new members into the community. Once new people join, your responsibility will be to ensure they feel welcome. This will cross both digital and physical touch points.
  • You’ll become an expert on our product range, engaging with shoppers to answer queries, give advice and share style inspiration. You’ll familiarise yourself with the brand story and deliver consistently on brand guidelines.
  • You’ll support the Founders & Head of Retail on partner brands in the shop, stock keeping, monthly sales reports, outreaching new partners, and building a strong rapport with the existing partners.
  • You’ll immerse yourself in the local community, ensuring our space becomes much more than just a shop.
  • You’ll be responsible with the support of the Head of Retail & Founders for research, discovery, planning and executing of events to grow brand awareness, drive sales & engage with the community.
  • Through strong commercial management, you’ll maximise event sales revenue and target profitability, alongside controlling costs with the support of our CFO and the founders.
  • You’ll use your intuition to suggest events that should be paid to hit event sales targets, and events that support brand growth and so might be offered pro rate or in exchange for a service.
  • Alongside the Head of Retail, you’ll be responsible for an event calendar that you will report to the team on weekly.
  • You’ll support the team on the upkeep of our physical space, ensuring it is clean, secure and safe.
  • This is a highly flexible role with the ability to spread hours across a 4 or 5 day working week, however there is an obvious requirement for some earlier and later starts. You’d be expected to be in the shop for 2/3 weekend days per month. But always with two consecutive days off, and time off in lieu if you’ve worked a late evening.

Who we're looking for:

  • 1-2 years experience in hospitality, event or retail sales preferable.
  • A highly ambitious, hard working self-starter that is motivated by an opportunity to be part of a fast growth business with exciting potential.
  • A positive persona, with strong sales skills.
  • You’d describe yourself as “the host”; this role is very much about community building and requires strong social skills.
  • You’re not afraid of grafting. You’ll need to be ready to step into a start-up environment and capable of soaking up fast paced days that don’t always go to plan.
  • You’re ambitious, always seeking opportunity and have strong initiative.
  • A keen interest in fashion and a strong eye for detail.

What it’s like to work at Batch:

  • £28k-£34k starting salary, with regular salary reviews and performance incentives including equity.
  • You’ll be part of a small team in the early days of our retail journey, so you’ll really have the ability to make your mark, and grow within the company.
  • You’ll receive regular Batch products on us.
  • You’ll get 25 days holiday per year.
  • You’ll get free coffee, snacks and drinks from our bar.
