Job summary

Azenta UK, Ltd. in Wotton-under-Edge, Surrey, is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join our team. You will coordinate parcel and freight shipments across the UK, EU and Rest of World, ensuring timely, compliant and cost-effective movement of products.

Qualifications

• Proven shipping/freight coordination experience.
• Working knowledge of import/export documentation and customs compliance.
• Strong Excel and data handling skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; cross-functional liaison.
• Highly organised with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Oracle Cloud is beneficial).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate parcel and freight shipments across the UK, EU and RoW.
• Book and select carriers and service levels for cost, speed and compliance.
• Handle returns shipments and related documentation.
• Manage import/export compliance, including customs docs and invoices.
• Source and compare freight quotes and link costs to invoices.
• Maintain delivery schedules and chase due dates.
• Track shipment costs and report trends or savings opportunities.
• Liaise with Sales, Customer Service, Planning, Warehouse and Finance to resolve shipping queries.
• Maintain shipping records and spreadsheets for reporting integrity.
• Support continuous improvement within the shipping function.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, export controls and regulations.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shipping and Logistics Coordinator to join our Wotton, Surrey site. Reporting to the Global Warehouse and Inventory Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the timely, compliant and cost-effective movement of manufactured and procured products, coordinating parcel and freight shipments across the UK, EU and Rest of World.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 16:30

Onsite: Wotton, Nr Dorking (own transport required due to rural location)

What You'll Bring

• Book and coordinate all parcel and freight/pallet shipments, selecting the most appropriate carrier and service level for cost, speed and compliance.
• Handle shipments for all returns.
• Handle import/export compliance, including customs documentation, commercial invoices, and tariff/country of origin classification.
• Source, compare and document freight quotes, linking costs to customer invoices
• Coordinate weekly shipment consolidation for key accounts.
• Maintain delivery schedules, proactively chasing and resolving due date slippage.
• Track and report shipment costs, identifying trends or savings opportunities.
• Liaise with Sales, Customer Service/Planning, Warehouse and Finance to resolve shipping queries and ensure accurate order fulfilment.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and spreadsheets, supporting data integrity for reporting.
• Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives within the shipping function.
• Ensure all activity complies with relevant health & safety, export control and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in a shipping, freight or logistics coordination role, ideally within a regulated or manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of import/export documentation and trade/customs compliance.
• Strong Excel skills; comfortable working with data and spreadsheets daily.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise across departments and with external carriers.
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems (specifically Oracle Cloud) is an advantage.
