A Snapshot of Your Day

Being a part of our SGT Shipping department, you will become an important player in a strong and independent team. We support customers in over 90 countries each day, so flexibility, proactiveness, and communication are key in our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that both imports and exports are processed in line with customs procedures and regulations. This includes handling parts, tooling, engines, and gas turbine packages. You will help facilitate customer shipments, including preparing materials stored at our third-party packaging provider.

We value good and open communication, and this role requires strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure customer projects are delivered on time. It also requires great teamwork and a proactive approach to support colleagues during seasonal or business demands.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Check invoicing accuracy and rectify errors
  • Ensure manifest correctness for daily shipments and prepare paperwork for freight collections
  • Create customs documentation for export shipments using SAP
  • Book collections with approved freight forwarders
  • Track proof of deliveries upon request
  • Investigate and correct shipping errors
  • Follow departmental processes and seek process improvements
  • Liaise with EC for export shipments
  • Coordinate with Customs for import/export issues
  • Produce and validate certificates of origin
  • Handle Dangerous Goods shipments by road/sea/air
  • Manage manual shipment requests as needed
  • Operate freight booking tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

What You Bring

  • Significant experience in a customer-facing role within transport or shipping
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Understanding of export documentation requirements outside the UK
  • Knowledge of Incoterms (e.g., DAP, FCA)
  • Experience with out-of-gauge shipments (we ship items weighing over 70 tonnes)
  • Experience with Dangerous Goods handling
