Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer in Portsmouth, primarily on site for a 12-month contract. The role involves leading design, testing, and installation documentation for shipboard hardware, with emphasis on EMC, environmental considerations, and successful FAT(E) acceptance.

The candidate will contribute to development systems, resolve design issues, and ensure robust configuration control and baselines across complex multi-project environments.

Qualifications

• Engineering or STEM degree required.
• Experience with hardware development using COTS components.
• Willingness to work in a complex multi-project environment.

Responsibilities

• Generate design, test and installation documentation.
• Design proving, including EMC and environmental aspects.
• Investigate and resolve design issues.
• Design and build the electrical and hardware system to achieve successful acceptance (FAT(E)).
• Support to development systems.
• Installation and commissioning of hardware on ships.
• Understanding of configuration control and baselines.
