We are seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer with extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure, including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and associated assets. As part of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for inspecting, operating, and maintaining all MEP assets within the critical facility, focusing on risk management and service quality enhancement.
As an electrical-biased engineer, you will lead Planned, Corrective, and Reactive Maintenance tasks and other asset-related duties. You should be capable of issuing PTWs, ensuring compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
Duties include:
- Operational understanding of all MEP systems within the Data Centre, providing technical reports and improvement recommendations.
- Ensuring efficient completion and quality inspection of vendor service visits, communicating findings to the Shift Leader or Assistant Chief Engineer.
- Providing backup coverage for leave, training, or absence, maintaining minimum staffing levels and supporting shift team members.
- Accurate reporting of work orders and critical spares used.
- Participating in weekly and quarterly team meetings.
- Completing shift handover reports, noting significant events or activities.
- Participating in Health and Safety activities, including hazard reporting and Toolbox Talks.
- Liaising with supply chain for M&E component procurement.
- Owning and maintaining areas and plant rooms to required standards.
- Assessing and escalating risks, contributing to safe work systems.
- Completing reactive, planned, and corrective work orders per SFG20 standards.
- Managing alarm notifications and accurately completing CMMS work orders within SLA.
Personal specifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in critical environments such as Data Centres or Banking HQs.
- Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or similar; Mechanical experience is a plus.
- HVAC experience.
- Excellent communication skills and IT proficiency.
- Ability to work under pressure, with commitment and proactive approach.
- Willingness to undertake training, including nights away for specialized courses.
- High initiative, integrity, honesty, and punctuality.
