Job summary

PRS is seeking an experienced Shift Technician / Maintenance Engineer to join a prestigious, business-critical facility in Bournemouth. You will handle planned and reactive maintenance across critical M&E systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

The role requires a strong electrical or mechanical background, experience with BMS/CMMS systems, and a proactive approach to fault finding. This is a demanding, technically oriented position within a high-standard environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Maintenance/Shift Engineer in critical facilities.
• Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background.
• Experience in a data centre or critical environment is desirable.
• Experience with BMS and CMMS systems.
• NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM, reactive and corrective maintenance across the site.
• Monitor and operate critical M&E plant and equipment.
• Respond to BMS alarms, faults and engineering incidents.
• Carry out routine plant room inspections.
• Maintain and monitor UPS, generators, LV distribution, switchgear and associated electrical systems.
• Maintain HVAC systems, chillers, AHUs, pumps and associated mechanical plant.
• Complete maintenance tasks through the site's CMMS.
• Support specialist contractors and ensure works are completed safely and effectively.
• Assist with fault finding and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain accurate engineering logs, reports and shift handovers.
• Follow RAMS, Permit to Work, LOTO and Safe Systems of Work.
• Support emergency response and incident management procedures.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with site procedures and relevant legislation.
• Identify and elevate potential risks and equipment issues.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and engineering compliance.
• Undertake Authorised Person duties where appropriately qualified and authorised.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Technician / Maintenance Engineer to join a prestigious, business-critical facility in Bournemouth.

The Role

As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding and day-to-day operation of the site's mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

The Candidate:

Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Shift Technician or Critical Facilities Engineer

Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background

Experience within a critical environment is highly desirable

Data Centre, Banking, Financial Services, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or similar experience would be advantageous

Strong knowledge of commercial M&E systems

Experience with BMS and CMMS systems

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Understanding of Permit to Work, RAMS and LOTO procedures

Relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC or equivalent

Excellent communication and reporting skills

Ability to work effectively within a shift-based engineering team
