Job summary

Astute Technical Recruitment Ltd's client is seeking a Shift Team Leader to manage a CCGT site in West Sussex. You will lead shift operations, act as the out-of-hours key decision-maker, and promote a strong safety culture.

The role requires an HNC in Engineering, extensive experience in heavy process environments, and the ability to coordinate maintenance while driving continuous improvement. A competitive package includes base salary, allowances and a bonus potential.

Qualifications

• HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering
• Operational/maintenance experience in heavy process environments (power, oil&gas, refining, offshore, utilities)
• Experience leading or coordinating teams in safety-critical environments
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation; NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications advantageous
• SAP authorisation desirable or Appointed Person status for safety isolations
• Navy leavers with relevant watchkeeping experience encouraged to apply

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Shift Team Leader to join its CCGT site in West Sussex.
The Shift Team Leader role comes with a starting salary of up to £64,000 basic salary, £12,000 Shift Allowance and £2,100 SE allowance as well as benefits including bonus and medical insurance.
If you are a HNC qualified DCS Operator or Team Leader, with experience operating within heavy process environments,
Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role
Reporting to the Production Coordinator you will:

• Lead and supervise shift operations to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient running of the plant.
• Act as the primary point of contact for out-of-hours site management and operational decision-making.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Undertake Safety Coordinator duties in accordance with company safety rules and permit-to-work systems.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational obligations are achieved.
• Monitor plant performance and respond proactively to operational issues to maximise availability and efficiency.
• Coordinate and support maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maintain operational readiness.
• Lead, motivate and develop shift personnel through effective people management and coaching.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant performance, reliability and safety standards.
• Ensure operational activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies and industry best practice.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• HNC (or equivalent) qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Proven operational and/or maintenance experience within power generation, oil & gas, refining, offshore, utilities or other heavy industrial environments.
• Previous experience leading or coordinating teams within a safety-critical environment.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, engineering standards and regulatory compliance requirements, with NEBOSH, IOSH or similar qualifications being advantageous.
• SAP authorisation is desirable, although candidates with Appointed Person status and hands-on experience managing safety isolations are encouraged to apply.
• Navy leavers with relevant watchkeeping experience on steam-raising plant are encouraged to apply.
