Job summary

FILTROX Carlson Ltd in Barnoldswick, Lancashire, is seeking an experienced supervisor to operate the primary production machine and lead a small team on rotating shifts. The role combines hands-on operation with people leadership to drive safe, high-quality output across 44–52.5 hours per week.

You’ll earn £49,000 to £56,000 per year, with overtime at time and a half on Weekdays/Saturdays and double time on Sundays, plus 33 days’ holiday, a 3% pension, paid breaks and training provided where

Qualifications

• Several years of manufacturing experience.
• Sound understanding of machine operation, production processes and safe working.
• Experience in paper manufacturing, paper converting or related process industries valued.
• Ability to make practical decisions, communicate clearly and stay calm under pressure.
• Experience training colleagues, coordinating work or taking responsibility on the factory floor is beneficial.
• IOSH or ILM qualifications at Level 3 are beneficial; some training provided.

Responsibilities

• Operate the primary production machine and supervise the team, ensuring safety, output and quality.
• Organise the shift, allocate people and work around production priorities.
• Maintain safe working practices, support risk assessments and address concerns promptly.
• Protect product quality by ensuring checks are completed, recorded and acted on.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering and technical colleagues to resolve issues affecting production.
• Develop the team through training, feedback and appraisals, managing attendance and performance.
• Improve ways of working by reducing inefficiency and maintaining hygiene, 5S standards.
