Job summary

Upham Inns in Milton Keynes is seeking a proactive Shift Supervisor to lead FOH teams across its premium pubs in Southern England. You will guide service, train staff on promotions, and drive guest satisfaction with confident leadership.

The role integrates with Upham Inns’ growing pub family, offering opportunities to develop within a developing brand and to participate in a broad range of guest services and hospitality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in restaurant operations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong decision-making under pressure and fast problem solving.
• Confident leadership with ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
• Knowledge of food, wine and beer is desirable.
• Right to work in the UK is required.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for team work, leading and motivating team members.
• Lead pre-session briefings and ensure the team is trained on new food and drink products and promotions.
• Assist in implementing and driving promotional activities.
• Coach team members to upsell and enhance customer service.
• Handle issues during each shift promptly and escalate as needed to the GM.
• Lead by example to deliver excellent customer service at all times.
• Coordinate with kitchen and door staff to maintain a consistent service level.
• Assist General/Assistant Managers to run the business smoothly.
• Participate in ongoing training and development.
• Be proactive in seizing new opportunities and learning new skills.

Shift Supervisor Requirements

• Have a proven track record of restaurant experience
• Be at Least 18 year of age due to licensing laws
• You’ll be a great communicator
• You’ll have great decision-making skills
• You should be confident
• You’ll need to be organised
• General knowledge of food, wine and beer
• Have the Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Shift Supervisor Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for team work, leading and motivating team members
• Hold pre session briefings as and when appropriate and make sure the team are fully briefed and trained on any new amended food and drink products, and any promotional activity
• Assist in implementing and driving promotional activities
• Support and coach team members to upsell
• Deal with any issues that arise during each shift promptly and professionally, seeking advice from the general manager where necessary
• Lead by example to ensure that the highest possible levels of customer service are delivered by team members at all times
• Liaise with other departments Including kitchen and door teams in the business to ensure every customer experiences a consistent level of service
• Assist the General and Assistant Managers as and when necessary to make the business run effectively and efficiently.

As a Front of House Team Leader, you will need to be able to demonstrate passion and energy to develop team members resulting in focussed customer service and exceptional standards.

Our pubs are in idyllic settings in country villages and towns, where we are proud to be the quality local of the area, serving high quality fresh pub food in a cozy pub ambience. Most of our pubs have some Charming Bedrooms as well. New to our growing family is Harper’s Steakhouse, a new premium American Steakhouse brand that we started rolling out last year.
