A leading specialty chemicals producer in North East England is seeking an analytical chemist to provide analytical services on a 12-hour shift system. The role involves conducting quality control testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with specifications. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Chemistry and relevant analytical experience, along with strong IT and communication skills.
To provide analytical services to Operations, the Business, and its customers on a 12-hour shift system (Days/Nights), ensuring accurate and timely analysis of plant and import/export samples.
- Conduct quality control testing of raw materials, bulk, intermediate, and finished products according to established procedures to verify conformance to specifications for specific chemical or physical properties.
- Follow methods and procedures diligently.
- Record all analysis results and update the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Perform maintenance and certification tests on instruments and apparatus.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and calibrate instruments and apparatus as per procedures to support testing activities.
- Maintain daily housekeeping in the laboratory.
- Record and interpret test results.
- Troubleshoot analytical and instrument issues.
- Conduct vent monitoring.
- Analyze drummed products, outside storage samples, and non-routine samples.
- HNC/Degree in Chemistry preferred.
- Essential analytical experience in a similar role.
- Experience working in a shift pattern.
- Understanding of manufacturing and chemical plant processes is advantageous.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Excellent IT skills, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
