Job summary
English Provender Company in Wales is seeking a skilled Shift Engineer to maintain plant, machinery and utilities, supporting production by resolving breakdowns and leading maintenance activities. You will drive improvements in machine performance, hygiene and quality while ensuring GMP and Health & Safety standards, working on site with external contractors and the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications
- Experience as a shift engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of GMP and Health & Safety standards.
- Ability to fault-find and perform planned maintenance.
- Experience supervising external contractors.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all plant, machinery and equipment to meet production demands.
- Run and control daily maintenance within budgets; keep logs/records.
- Ensure work meets high standards, clean and orderly site.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Perform maintenance in low/medium/high risk environments per GMP guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and Safe Systems of Work.
- Maintain spare parts inventory within budget.
- Liaise with external maintenance contractors and ensure EPC standards.
- Evaluate new machinery for suitability and cost with Engineering Manager.
- Assess changes to plant to improve quality, scope and profitability.
- Carry out site checks and arrange repairs as needed.
- Audit site security measures (gates, fences, CCTV, access control).
- Audit Health & Safety compliance and attend meetings.
- Oversee utilities and liaise with suppliers for reliability.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Adhere to Health & Safety policy and drive safety standards.
- Provide reporting between Production and Engineering teams.
- Perform other duties to meet business needs.
- Present a positive image of EPC.
