Job summary

Bensons for Beds is seeking a Shift Operations Manager to lead warehousing, distribution and transport operations on a rotational shift basis in the UK. The role focuses on delivering service, productivity and quality targets while managing agency staff and contractor resources.

You will drive performance using KPIs, ensure compliance with Operator's Licence obligations and health & safety standards, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise costs and processes.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing teams within a warehouse, logistics, distribution and transport operation.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Experience managing productivity, service and operational performance targets.
• Experience controlling operational costs, including labour spend, agency usage, overtime, site expenditure and workforce planning.
• Knowledge of transport legislation, vehicle compliance and fleet management.
• Experience managing agency labour and third-party contractors.
• Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a warehouse and transport environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to balance service delivery with effective cost management and budget control.
• Experience using performance data and KPIs to drive operational improvements and efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Leading and motivating operational teams to deliver service, productivity and quality targets.
• Managing warehouse and transport operations during your shift.
• Ensuring staffing levels are effective, including management of agency colleagues and external contractors.
• Monitoring performance KPIs and taking action to drive continuous improvement.
• Resolving operational issues and responding quickly to changing priorities.
• Managing transport compliance, vehicle maintenance schedules and legal operating requirements.
• Supporting the management of the site's Operator's Licence obligations.
• Maintaining Driver CPC and transport compliance standards.
• Ensuring health & safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
• Conducting investigations, coaching and performance management where required.
• Building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
• Driving operational excellence and identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and customer service.
