Job description

Job Title: Shift Operations Manager

Salary: £35,000

Work Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 6am - 6pm

Location: Gatwick Airport

Note: This role will be based at the Recycling Centre with Gatwick Airport. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security/background check.

Overview

We are seeking a Shift Operations Manager to play an integral role in delivering first-class service and achieving excellent results.

Responsibilities

1. Implement actions to reduce or eliminate health and safety risks.
2. Manage Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) programs, report and investigate incidents, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
3. Ensure drivers follow proper procedures and report defects timely.
4. Communicate policies and monitor their implementation.
5. Support safety management and ensure safety arrangements are followed.
6. Manage daily shift performance, KPIs, and customer satisfaction metrics.
7. Communicate expectations and performance standards to team members.
8. Assist in resource planning, including rota creation and managing absences.
9. Identify training needs and escalate gaps for further development.
10. Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions.
11. Ensure proper registration of hours and attendance tracking.
12. Review and improve operational procedures and work instructions.
13. Ensure team members are trained according to the training matrix.

Requirements

• Full UK Driving License.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Positive, proactive attitude.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong time management skills with minimal supervision.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Experience managing a business unit.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Knowledge of GSE maintenance and airport operations.

• Provide five years of address and reference history.
• Obtain a full airside ID.
