Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Shift Multi Skilled Technician (Elec Bias) to join a dedicated team supporting hospital sites in Newcastle. The role focuses on maintenance across M&E disciplines with a strong electrical bias, operating on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern covering days and nights.

You will perform planned preventative maintenance, respond to reactive requests, and ensure compliance with standards and safety guidelines within critical healthcare environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical and multi-disciplined maintenance including LV, lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting, nurse call, DHW, LTHW, and ventilation systems.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day planned preventive maintenance of M&E systems as per contractual obligations.
• Maintain plant and equipment in line with O&M manuals and best practices.
• Respond to reactive calls within contractual timescales and complete job sheets and reports.
• Test emergency lighting (BS EN 5266), fixed wiring (BS EN 7671), and lightning protection (BS EN 62305) and rectify faults.
• Assist in supervising subcontractors, carry out isolations, and follow SSOW and procedures.

ROLE: Shift Multi Skilled Technician - Elec Bias HOURS: Shift pattern 4 on 4 off days and nights LOCATION: Royal Victoria Infirmary & Freeman Hospital, Newcastle

We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Technician (Elec) who will form part of a team providing a high level of maintenance support to the M&E Supervisor across hospital sites in Newcastle.

Role Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all day-to-day planned preventative maintenance activities of M&E maintenance is completed in line with contractual obligations.
• Ensure all plant and equipment are maintained in accordance with O&M manuals, best practice and relevant guidelines/legislation.
• Respond to reactive calls in line with contractual time scales and complete job sheets, reports and documentation as required.
• Carry out testing on emergency lighting systems (BS EN 5266), fixed wire testing (BS EN 7671), and lightning protection systems (BS EN 62305), rectifying faults where necessary.
• Assist in supervising subcontractors, carry out isolations, and follow SSOW, policies and procedures at all times.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

• Previous experience of electrical and/or multi-disciplined maintenance, including LV, lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting systems, nurse call, DHW, LTHW, and ventilation systems.
• Good interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail and experience in Health & Safety legislation.
• Ability to work independently using own initiative, with excellent customer awareness and team working skills.
