The Shift Manager is responsible for leading and managing all warehouse operations during the late shift, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately, productivity targets are achieved, and all activities are carried out safely and efficiently. Managing a team of approximately 40-60 warehouse associates, the role oversees all warehouse functions including Goods In, Putaway, Replenishment, Picking, Packing, Dispatch, Stock Control, and Returns. The successful candidate will drive operational performance, maintain high service standards, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Lead the day-to-day running of the late shift warehouse operation, ensuring customer orders are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time. Monitor workflow across all operational areas, allocate labour effectively, resolve operational issues quickly, and ensure productivity, quality, and service level targets are consistently achieved.
Provide strong leadership to a team of 40-60 warehouse associates, supporting Team Leaders and Supervisors to deliver high performance. Conduct regular team briefings, manage performance and attendance, support recruitment and training, and foster a positive, engaged working environment.
Champion a strong health and safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies and legislation. Carry out safety audits, support risk assessments and accident investigations where required, and ensure all employees are trained to operate equipment safely.
Maintain high levels of stock accuracy through effective inventory control, cycle counting, and investigation of discrepancies. Analyse operational KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce errors and waste, and implement best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the warehouse.
Ensure all warehouse activities meet company procedures, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. Complete shift reporting, communicate operational performance to senior management, and manage labour planning to maximise efficiency and control costs.
Success in the role will be measured through operational performance, including on-time dispatch, productivity, picking accuracy, stock accuracy, labour utilisation, health and safety compliance, employee engagement, and customer service performance.
