Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a Production Shift Manager with proven paper converting knowledge and experience to join our team manufacturing hygiene paper products. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing production operations during your shift, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency targets are consistently met.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times.
  • Achieve required company quality standards, ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and achieve targets.
  • Liaise and coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation, ensuring delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
  • Communicate with teams using visual management, delivering shift briefs focused on quality, cost and delivery, and gathering improvement ideas.
  • Perform performance management for team members, conducting appraisals and providing direction to aid good performance.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and “Standard Operations” adhered to.
  • Challenge non-conformance and agree and implement countermeasures.
  • Lead and motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Strive to exceed company targets in productivity, efficiency and quality continuously.
  • Report and act upon plant or machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians.
  • Ensure housekeeping is kept to a high standard.
People Management
  • Manage manpower resource effectively, maximizing key skills in the right areas.
  • Drive company Absence Control Procedures to ensure maximum attendance levels.
  • Manage time and attendance within company procedures.
  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
  • Monitor completion of tasks and ensure good performance.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and rollout through the team so that each member understands the standards and behaviours expected.
  • Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management and reporting.
  • Provide product expertise within the team and respond to operator queries.
  • Support, comply and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other company policies and procedures.

Shift Pattern

Thursday – Sunday Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) – 44 hours per week.
