Job summary

EVRi International in York is seeking an experienced Shift Manager - Nights to lead the depot operations during the night shift. You will oversee transport, courier and fleet activities, conduct driver pre-briefs and de-briefs, and ensure safety and service targets are met.

The role requires strong leadership and communication, with responsibility for resource planning, cost monitoring, and effective handovers across shifts. Permanent contract, 45 hours per week, nights schedule.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or management experience in logistics, transport, warehouse, or operational environments.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to delegate and motivate teams.
• Experience in process management and operational planning.
• Knowledge of resource management and workforce deployment.
• Good IT skills and ability to work with operational systems.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of service, safety, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Operations Controllers, overseeing resource planning and driver briefing activities.
• Manage transport, courier and fleet operations to ensure service and performance targets are achieved.
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures and site risk assessments.
• Drive daily operational excellence and promote best practice across the depot.
• Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet changing workload demands.
• Monitor operational costs and investigate claims, discrepancies and operational issues; identify risks and implement solutions.
• Ensure clear communication between shifts and maintain an accurate handover process.
• Maintain operational documentation and records to a high standard.
• Support drivers and customers through effective communication via telephone and company systems.

The Role
