Job summary

PROPER SNACKS is seeking a Shift Manager for the night shift (10pm–6am) at the Nuneaton site. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will lead Movers & Makers to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.

You will recruit, onboard and develop teams, use Redzone data to drive improvements, and foster a high‑performance culture in a fast‑paced environment. Join us to help scale our UK snack brands across Europe.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate a diverse team.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Proficiency in Redzone and related tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage, motivate and develop a team of Movers & Makers, creating a culture of Safety, Quality & Delivery through high performance and teamwork.
• Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring adherence to plan and financial, quality and safety standards.
• Drive a culture of improvement and ensure variances to plan are investigated and improvement plans implemented.
• Work with other departments and leaders to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Recruit, onboard and train new hires on company values, policies and procedures to ensure they thrive in their new role.
• Champion the growth and development of every team member, coaching individuals and training groups.
• Provide clear, ongoing feedback to ensure expectations on performance and behaviours are clear. Identify and manage potential issues fairly and confidently.
• Adapt to the fast-paced manufacturing environment by implementing and modifying work plans according to business needs whilst promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of team members.
• Promote the effective use of Redzone, ensuring regular communication huddles take place to drive performance and inspire best practice.

Job description

We are looking for a Shift Manager to join our Nuneaton-based Operations team on the night shift (10pm - 6am).

The Person

This person will be a practical, motivational people leader, living and breathing our PROPER SNACKS values and always looking for ways to improve our operation.

They will be passionate about people and performance, with a desire to balance delivery of results with maintaining a positive and motivating working environment. They will be a brilliant communicator and problem solver with a desire to proactively support all corners of our day-to-day operation in the delivery of our ambitious agenda.

The Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this role will be accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost performance on their shifts by managing, motivating and developing both permanent and temporary operatives (known as our Movers & Makers).

People leadership and management is fundamental to the success of this role, guiding and developing your teams on a daily basis whilst planning for the future.

You will promote the effective use of available data through our system, Redzone, using this to constantly improve performance.
