Job summary

Marks & Spencer in Newport is seeking a Shift Lead to supervise the fill operation, ensuring the sales floor is ready to trade and resources are coordinated to Serve, Sell and Fill. You will lead the floor in the Colleague Manager's absence and support opening and closing duties.

The role is frontline, requiring 18+ age, and involves coordinating team tasks, maintaining a clean, safe store, and delivering quick payment experiences. Regular weekend and evening shifts are included.

Responsibilities

• Lead the fill operation, ensuring the salesfloor is ready to trade and resources are coordinated to Serve, Sell and Fill.
• Coordinate resources to deliver operational tasks during fill and in the absence of the Colleague Manager.
• Lead the fill operation, coach colleagues on One Best Way and drive productivity for store opening readiness.
• Allocate resources effectively to deliver a quick payment experience.
• Enable daily operational processes to be implemented efficiently across the store area at the correct times.
• Coordinate the team to deliver a clean, safe and well-presented store.
• Create a great, inclusive team atmosphere.
• Role model excellent customer service.
• Demonstrate M&S behaviours and colleague expectations across the store.
• Support Colleague Managers by sharing observations to drive high performance and recognise colleagues.
• Support nearby stores when required.
• Be a key holder and respond to call-outs as required.
• Open/close the building: receive vehicles, monitor temperatures, log issues with Helpdesks, handle cash and TSL compliance in peripheral hours.
