Job summary

Arriva UK Bus is seeking skilled engineers to join our growing teams across the business. Roles span PSV maintenance, HGV repair, mechanical and electrical engineering, rail, heavy plant and related areas, offering a long-term career with a leading UK transport operator.

You will maintain and improve our fleet and infrastructure, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational for millions of passengers daily. Training and development are available to support career progression.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Previous experience as a PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer, or Heavy Vehicle Engineer.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience within a workshop or fleet environment.
  • Experience using engineering tools, workshop equipment, and vehicle diagnostic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures within engineering and transport environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Complete repairs, modifications, and upgrades in line with DVSA, safety, and engineering standards.
  • Support fleet reliability through effective fault finding and technical problem solving.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with workshop teams, supervisors, and operational departments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve vehicle reliability and workshop efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices where required.

What We’re Looking For
