Job summary

Industrial Chemicals Group Ltd. in West Thurrock is seeking a reliable Shift Fitter to join our team.

The role involves planning and carrying out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on the plant, with a 4-on/4-off shift pattern from 06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00. You will ensure work is done to a high standard, follow H&S procedures, assist RAMS, and respond to breakdowns while maintaining site equipment and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine / preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
• Respond to plant breakdowns as required.
• Carry out routine inspections and maintenance associated with the plant preventative maintenance system (FSI).
• Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard.
• Ensure all H&S procedures, including permit to work, are adhered to.
• Assist in the preparation / implementation of RAMS, necessary to carry out each task.
• Comply with Health and Safety requirements, as per training, policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work etc.
• Report any H&S issues/accidents/near misses to line manager.
• Attend training as required to maintain personal qualifications/competence.

Purpose of the role

The mechanical maintenance fitter is responsible for planning and carrying out preventative planned maintenance and reactive repairs associated with the West Thurrock site production facility.
